Solidarity with West Bengal

The Central Committee of the CPI(M) at its June 18-20, 2016 meeting had decided that the Party units all over the country will organise protest actions, in the first week of August 2016, against the unprecedented violence unleashed by the Trinamool Congress post elections.  Solidarity actions are taking place in various places across the country. The Polit Bureau took note of the serious havoc caused by the floods that have occurred in various parts of the country, especially in East and northern parts of the country, owing to heavy rains. Assam and Bihar are the worst affected.

The CPI(M) state committees in West Bengal, Kerala, Tamilnadu and  Assam are scheduled to meet to prepare a detailed review of the CPI(M)’s performance in the elections and the post election political situation arising in these states.  On the basis of these review reports prepared by the state committees, the Central Committee will conduct its review at its forthcoming meeting from June 18-20.

A two member delegation of the CPI(M) consisting of General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and Central Secretariat Member Nilotpal Basu met the Chief Election Commissioner today to draw attention of the Commission to some serious concerns with regard to the forthcoming elections to the West Bengal legislative assembly.
