Use EVMs with VVPAT in Tripura: Sitaram

The President of the Tripura unit of BJP, Shri Biplab Deb, has cast aspersions on the objectivity and fairness of the Electronic Voting Machines. This comes in the background of the widespread apprehensions about EVMs. CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner and demanded among other things that in elections in Tripura EVMs  with Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) should be used. Tripura: Foil Divisive Designs

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) condemns the incidents of violence in Agartala city in Tripura.  These are a result of the violent behavior of some of the  participants in a rally organized by the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT).  The IPFT is carrying on a divisive campaign for a separate state for the tribal people.  These incidents were pre-planned and certain opposition parties sought to exploit the situation.

Tripura: Record Breaking Human Chain

The Left movement in Tripura reached a new mile stone on 19th August as more than 2.25 lakh people formed human chains at 96 spots across the state stretching to around 300 kilometres in all. The impressive show of strength marked the culmination of the August movement at the call of CPI(M) Tripura state committee and it was unprecedented in the annals of mass mobilisation in the state.
