His statement has dangerous implications for the future as it means that any Supreme Court judgement which does not suit the interests of the BJP and RSS will be defied and a Government seeking to implement it will be attacked by them. In the history of independent India this is an unprecedented situation.
Proof of this nefarious intent has now come to light with the exposure of a circular issued on November 14, 2018 by the Kannur District Committee of the BJP. The circular calls for the sending of 200 trained volunteers from four areas of the district to the Sabarimala temple on December 13. The circular has also instructed these volunteers to carry necessary “materials” in their handbags.
That the ruling party President so blatantly ridicules the SC judgement is in keeping with the RSS-BJP’s contempt for the Constitution and the Supreme Court. The threat of toppling the Kerala State Government if it continues to uphold the SC judgement is another display of the anti-democratic, authoritarian attitude typical of Amit Shah.
All steps should be taken to provide succor and relief to the survivors of the tragedy. The Polit Bureau conveys its heartfelt sympathy and condolences to all those families who have suffered a grevious loss
