The ruling classes have been attacking the Left in a concerted fashion with the aim of isolating it. Since 2009, the CPI(M) and the Left have been weakened. Without having any illusions that the ruling classes will cease their hostile approach, and given the unremitting position of the Left against the neo-liberal policies, it is necessary to utilize the conflicts and fissures within the ruling alliance between the bourgeois parties.
The Left parties will conduct a month long campaign from the grassroot level in all the states in July. This will be followed by a continuous dharna during the monsoon session of Parliament from July 30 to August 3, 2012 in New Delhi in which thousands of people will participate. This dharna will see the participation of the national leaders of the Left parties.
The sharing of Teesta waters is a bilateral issue between India and Bangladesh. The raising of this matter by Hillary Clinton, that too with the state Chief Minister, is an uncalled for and unacceptable intrusion into a strictly bilateral issue.
