The CPI(M) expresses the hope that now incidents like at Pathankot and at Uri will not recur. The CPI(M) has all along maintained that the safety and security of our people from cross border terrorism must be ensured.

The religious extremists who are resorting to such terrorist violence have to be put down firmly by the Pakistani authorities. The Polit Bureau conveys its heartfelt sympathy and solidarity with all the families who have lost their loved ones.

The Central Committee expressed serious concern at the rapidly deteriorating conditions of the people’s livelihood that are a direct result of the more aggressive pursuit of neo-liberal economic policies by the BJP-led Modi government.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) reiterates its consistent position that the process of talks between India and Pakistan should continue, while adopting a firm stance on the territorial sovereignty of our country.

The Polit Bureau strongly criticizes the intemperate statements made by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar regarding Modi Government’s approach to the issue of Pakistan backed terrorists who infiltrate into Jammu & Kashmir. 

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its shock and horror at the massacre of 132 school children in Peshawar. Another 120 have been seriously injured. The Party denounces this unspeakable atrocity committed by the Tehrik-e-Taliban which shows their inhuman and depraved state of mind.

The fact that three heavily armed terrorists could cross the fenced and fortified border with ease and indiscriminately fire attacking a police station, traveling some distance to mount an attack on an army camp exposes the serious lacuna in our security apparatus. These need to be corrected with great urgency.
