Punjab: Picketting Before CM's Residence

One hundred and one leaders of Four Left Parties, members of their respective state executives will hold a Dharna outside the residence of Punjab Chief Minister Sh. Parkash Singh Badal on 8th of July, to draw his attention towards the burning problems of state, including house plots for homeless; stop fiddling with the Land Acquisition Act of 2013; no amendments in labour laws; implement MNREGA; implementation of Swaminathan Commission Report to assure remunerative prices for agricultural produce and continuation of procurement of paddy and extend it to Basmati; and save FCI.
This decision was taken today at joint meeting of left parties — CPI, CPI(M), CPM (Punjab) and CPI(ML)Liberation held at Peoples Convention Centre, presided by Com. Charan Singh Virdi.
This dharna of state leaders will be followed by District  Dharnas on 20th July and regional conventions at Barnala on 10th August, Amritsar on 17th August and Jalandhar on 20th August.
The four left parties whole heartedly supported the one day strike by all the trade unions of the country on September 2 and called upon their cadres and members to actively support the strike call given by 11 central trade unions centres and independent federations.
The meeting strongly deplored the Union and Punjab governments for pushing pro-corporate, anti-worker and anti-peasant policies, while at the same time raising diversionary, communal and divisive slogans and agenda to divide the people.
The left parties strongly condemned the various mafias active in Punjab as the sand, drugs, transport and land mafias and urged that strong action be taken against such mafias to save the people of Punjab from their loot.
The meeting was attended by Comrades Dr. Joginder Dayal, Hardev Arshi, Bhupinder Samber, Bant Singh Brar, Nirmal Singh Dhaliwal, Gurnam Kanwar (all from CPI); Charan Singh Virdi, Vijay Mishra and Raghunath Singh (CPI(M)); Mangat Ram Pasla, Harkanwal Singh and Inderjit Singh Grewal (CPM Punjab) and Gurmit Singh Bakhtupura and Rajwinder Singh Rana (CPI(ML)Liberation).
