The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) mourns the passing away of Comrade Jakka Venkaiah, veteran leader of the Party in Andhra Pradesh and a former member of the Central Committee.

 

Jakka Venkaiah played a key role in building the Communist Party in Nellore district. He began the agricultural workers organization and led many struggles.

 

After the formation of the CPI(M) he was mainly responsible for building the Party organization and personally led many struggles of the agricultural labourers in the 1970s and the land struggles in the 1980s.

 

He discharged various responsibilities as the district secretary, member of the Party state secretariat and later the Central Committee. He also served as an MLA for two terms. He was a leader of impeccable integrity and a dedicated Marxist-Leninist.

 

The Polit Bureau pays its homage to Comrade Jakka Venkaiah. It conveys its heartfelt condolences to his wife and children.
