Press Statement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

No Facilities To LTTE

The LTTE's request for allowing its representative to be based in Chennai to facilitate the peace talks in Sri Lanka must be rejected outright. The LTTE has grossly misused its earlier sojourn in Tamilnadu and is responsible for various terrorist acts. Its leader remains the chief accused in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.

India should support the efforts for negotiations to solve the problems of the Tamil people in Sri Lanka, but that should not lead to any facilities being given to the LTTE in India.
