The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
The BJP’s decision to change the Chief Minister of Tripura few months before the term of the government ends is a clear admission of the fact that the BJP state government was a complete failure. The administration is in shambles. No promises made during the last assembly elections have been implemented and its policies have been totally anti-people imposing unprecedented economic burdens on the people. The politics of terror and violence that the BJP government indulged in have destroyed democracy reducing elections to a farce.
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
Tripura: Restore Democracy, Countermand Elections in Rigged Polls
The municipal elections held in Tripura on November 25 comprising the Agartala municipal corporation and 19 other municipal bodies was converted into an outright farce by the ruling BJP.
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) met at New Delhi on November 13-14, 2021.
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) expresses profound shock and grief at the death of Bijan Dhar, member of its Central Committee and former Secretary of the Tripura State Committee of the Party. He died this morning at a Kolkata hospital where he was undergoing treatment for Covid.
The CPI(M) demands that the attacks and violence against the CPI(M) Left and all opposition parties should stop; attacks on media should stop and they should be allowed to function freely; the miscreants responsible must be arrested and prosecuted; compensation must be given to those whose homes, shops and other property destroyed; false cases against opposition party leaders and workers should be withdrawn.
Shri Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist), wrote the following letter to the Prime Minister of India on the violence let loose on the CPI(M) and the Left Front in Tripura.
In a pre-planned fashion, the offices of the CPI(M), including the state headquarters, were attacked by mobs of BJP men. Among the offices which were damaged or burnt down are the Udaipur sub-divisional office, Gomati district committee office, Sepahijala district committee office, Bishalgarh sub-divisional committee office, West Tripura district committee office and the Sadar sub-divisional committee office.
The BJP, showing its true character and colour, is not allowing any democratic activity of the opposition in Tripura. This is unacceptable and will be resisted and rebuffed.
The barbaric action of the police against an ailing leader who is an MLA for eight terms and a former Minister in the Left Front government deserves the strongest condemnation. The BJP government in Tripura cannot evade its responsibility in this matter.
