Kerala Budget 2019 – A Left alternative for the Working People in Hard Times

The Kerala Budget 2019, presented on 31 January, a day before the Union Budget, has put the perspective of the working people in sharp focus while focussing on rebuilding the flood-ravaged State. While the Union Budget is full of non-stop jumlas aimed to subdue the brewing anger of the working people against its policies, the Kerala budget has signalled the consolidation of gains for them.

Assembly Election Results

The defeat of the BJP in the elections to the state assemblies of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, is a clear indication of the people’s discontent and anger at the policies followed by the Modi government and the BJP state governments that have imposed unbearable burdens on the people. These results have shattered the myth of the BJP’s electoral invincibility.
