Press Statement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) met in New Delhi on February 9 and 10, 2002. It has issued the following statement:

Act Firmly Against VHP's Disruptive Move

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad's announcement that it will begin construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya from March 15 is a disruptive and illegal move. It is the connivance of the BJP and the patronage extended by the Vajpayee government which is allowing the VHP to play this dangerous game.

After the experience of the demolition of the Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992, the country will not tolerate any step to defy the law and disturb communal amity. The Vajpayee government must act immediately and firmly to check any disruptive activity by the VHP-RSS combine.
