Jharkhand: CPI(M) Continues to Fight for Adivasis’ Rights

Thousands of Adivasis rallied on 13th March in a big procession and meeting in Chanpur in Gumla district of Jharkhand in defence of their land and community rights. Organized jointly by the CPI(M) and the Adivasi Adhikar Manch, the march and meeting was joined by Polit Bureau member Comrades Brinda Karat, Praful,Linda, Suknath Lohia, Suphal Mahto and others.

In this district four projects are sought to be implemented without taking the consent of the gram sabha. These projects in the name of Tiger Sanctuary,Elephant Corridor, Firing Range and bauxite mines will affect a population of,four lakhs. The procession and meeting was marked by a significant participation of women.

Comrade Brinda Karat said that “BJP Government's Forcible Acquisition of Adivasi Land is akin to Acquisition of Democracy by an authoritarian Government in this undeclared war on adivasi rights”.
