The Assam units of the CPI (M), CPI, CPI (ML), Asom Gana Morcha and RJD met today, 23 September, at the State Office of the CPI under the chairmanship of the CPI (M) State Secretary Deben Bhattacharyya. Comrade Munin Mahanta, State Secretary of the CPI explained objectives of the meeting. The Parties jointly issued the following statement to the press regarding the inhuman eviction drive being conducted by the State administration at Dholpur-Gorukhuti area under Sipajhar Revenue Circle of Darrang district in Assam :

Srinagar, August 27: CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Friday filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court praying for early hearing to his plea of petitions which include challenge to Centre’s decision to abrogate provisions of Articles 370 and 35A and J&K Reorganisation Act-2019.
On 24th August five female contract teachers in West Bengal, tried to commit suicide in protest against their transfer to places far off from their homes. The teachers were rushed to NRS hospital, where the condition of two is reportedly serious. Com. Sujan Chakraborty, CPI(M) central committee member along with Com. Anadi Sahu, general secretary of the West Bengal unit of CITU visited the hospital and spoke to the doctors and police officers present.

A CPI(M) delegation comprising of MLA Comrade Ajay Kumar visited flood affected areas in Samastipur of Bihar and met families which have been affected. Relief operations are being carried out by the Party in the Area and relief materials are being distributed.
Land erosion at the banks of the Ganga River, Harishchandrapur, Malda in West Bengal caused massive damage to the surrounding villages. Heavy rain lately has worsened the situation. A delegation of Malda District Committee of the CPI(M) visited the place, extended their support to the victim families.
Health Minister of Kerala Com. Veena George said the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine had been given to more than half of the state's population. According to the projected population of 3.54 crore by 2021, 50.25% (1,77,88,931) have been vaccinated with the first dose. The target was achieved within 213 days of the start of vaccination in the state on January 16. The Minister lauded all the health workers, officials, people's representatives and other volunteers who have been working even for the state's vaccination drive.
