The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly denounces the Human Resources Development Minister, Murli Manohar Joshi's vituperative fascist outburst against Left historians. According to reports, he has described them as being more dangerous than terrorists to be booked under the POTO.
Clearly, Mr. Joshi is mounting such a canard based on fabrication and lies in order to cover up his entire effort at communalising education and rewriting Indian history.
A majority of the state governments and the patriotic democratic opinion in the country has opposed and continues to oppose such efforts at communalising the content of education to suit the RSS agenda of converting the secular democratic republic of India into a rabidly intolerant and communal "Hindu Rashtra".
By such utterances, the BJP leadership is clearly announcing that its aim is to advance the RSS agenda more than to fight terrorism. Its sincerity in combating terrorism lacks complete credibility.
