Press Statement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

On CBI Stand in Advani case

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly objects to the decision of the CBI not to file a revision petition in the High Court challenging the discharge of L.K. Advani in the Babri Masjid demolition case. The CBI by this act has damaged its credibility and will be seen as acting as an instrument to serve the interests of the ruling party and the Union Home Minister. First of all the CBI had no business to drop the conspiracy charge in the revised chargesheet filed before the Rae Bareli court. Now with its decision not to appeal the judgement exonerating Advani, the CBI has failed in its elementary duty in acting as the prosecuting agency in the demolition case.

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) demands that the CBI reconsider its stand and pursue the case against L.K. Advani.
