The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) congratulates the people of West Bengal for once again reposing faith in the Left Front. The emphatic victory of the Left Front candidates in the Nabadwip Lok Sabha seat and the Vidyasagar Assembly by election clearly shows that the anti-incumbency factor works only in those states where the governments do not work in the people’s interests.
The CPI(M) has wrested the Nabadwip Lok Sabha seat from the Trinamul Congress by a margin of 98,800 votes. The Left Front supported CPI(M) candidate won the Vidyasagar assembly seat by a margin of 22,829 votes while the BJP candidate lost his deposit.
