January 11, 2018

The sixth Jharkhand state conference of the CPI(M) began on 10th January in Dhanbad with a largely attended public meeting addressed by General Secretary Comrade Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau Member Comrade Brinda Karat and CC member Comrade G.K. Bakshi and other leaders of the State. Sharply attacking the Modi Government, Com Sitaram said it was selling out India's interests citing the most recent example of the Union Cabinet decision to permit 100 per cent FDI in retail and selling out the national airline. He said today's Lav and Kush who will halt the Modi conquering horse, will be the worker and the peasant and their alliance. He called for strengthening the struggle against this new liberal, offensive and against the communal agenda and hatred of the BJP-RSS.

Com Brinda Karat said the real Mahagathbandhan is that of the Jangathbandhan-- people's struggles who are challenging Modi. There is a big difference from three years ago because struggles of the people are growing. We have to defeat the communal divide and rule policy of the BJP-RSS in this the Left and CPI(M) have a most important role to play and duty to fulfil.

Com Sitaram Yechury later inaugurated the delegate conference. Left leaders from the CPI, CPI-ML, MCC, SUCI, and Forward Bloc were present for the inaugural session in a symbol of Left unity.
