Comrade K. P. Oli

Chairman

Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist)

Kathmandu

Dear Comrade Oli,

On behalf of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), please accept my revolutionary greetings and hearty congratulations on the historic success achieved by the CPN(UML) in the recently concluded elections to the federal parliament and provincial assemblies.

Though the formal declaration of the results from the Election Commission is still awaited, it is clear by now that the important political step that you have taken to form an alliance of the CPN(UML) with the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) has resoundingly won the confidence of the people of Nepal.

The CPN(UML) has won 80 out of the 165 seats elected directly from territorial constituencies and an additional 41 seats under the proportional representation system.  Along with the seats won by the CPN(MC), the alliance together has reportedly won 174 seats in the federal parliament, which is just short of a two-third majority.  The Communist alliance has won a majority in six of the seven provincial assemblies.

These results herald a new beginning ushering in a period  political stability in Nepal.  The over a decade-long period in Nepal’s transition  from a monarchy to a Republic, I am sure, will now be completed and firmly consolidated.  The secular democratic character of the Republic of  Nepal will have a long lasting influence on stability and peace not only in Nepal but in South Asia as a whole.

You know that I have always maintained that the people of Nepal and people of India share very strong multi-dimensional bonds.  There is no big brother or younger brother. Both Indians and Nepalis are twin brothers.  Each celebrating the victories of the others and, in terms of crisis, sharing grief.    With this new government in Nepal, I am sure, that these bonds of friendship and fraternity between the Indian and Nepali people will further strengthen.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist joins the large majority of the Indian people in celebrating your victory and rejoicing your success.

Please convey revolutionary greetings of the CPI(M) to all members of the CPN(UML) and the people of Nepal.

Wishing you the very best to cement Nepal’s historic transition as a secular, democratic Republic and to address the important issues of improving the livelihood of the people of Nepal along with progress and prosperity.

          With warm greetings,

Yours fraternally

(Sitaram Yechury)

General Secretary

Prachanda Pushpa Kamal Dahal

Chairman

Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre)

Kathmandu

Dear Comrade,

On behalf of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), please accept my revolutionary greetings and hearty congratulations for the success of the Communist alliance in the recently-concluded elections to the federal parliament and provincial assemblies.

The near two-third majority won by the alliance of CPN(UML) and CPN(MC) resoundingly vindicates that the people of Nepal had reposed their confidence  in this Communist alliance for putting the transition of Nepal from a monarchy to a Republic on a firm footing.

This is further proven by the fact that this alliance has won a majority in six of the seven provincial assemblies.

I sincerely hope that with the installation of the new government, the transition of Nepal into a secular democratic Republic would be achieved and that the government would address itself to the important issues of improving the livelihood of the people of Nepal along with progress and prosperity.

Please convey the fraternal revolutionary greetings of the CPI(M) to all members of the CPN(MC) and to the people of Nepal.

Once again wishing you all success in your future endeavours.

          With warm greetings,

Yours fraternally

(Sitaram Yechury)

General Secretary
